This article is more clinically focused – it’s my summary of the evidence surrounding the recognition and treatment of refeeding syndrome, and how we as healthcare professionals go about treating this condition.
It has been published as the Hot Topic in BAPEN’s August edition of their online magazine In Touch.
As clinicians it’s always good for us to know the evidence we base our everyday practice on. Even though it might not come as second nature to most of us, learning to critically appraise scientific papers and literature is a skill we would all benefit from and will improve our clinical practice – and as dietitians this is what makes us the experts in nutrition!
