Heart Healthy Foods

So, recently I had the opportunity to write a few words for Boots WedMD on what foods are good for your heart health. To read the article click here.

There are so many things that you could write about so it was hard to just stick to a few!

As well as eating right, one of the other best things you can do for a healthy heart is regular exercise. Physical activity not only makes you feel great but it also reduces your risk of heart disease, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol and helps to keep control of your weight.

The recommended amount of exercise is 30 minutes five times a week. I know that can sound quite hard, especially if you do no exercise to start with! It doesn’t have to be daunting though, you could start with just 10 minutes each time and build up slowly. Find something you enjoy doing too, nothing is worse than trying to force yourself to do an exercise that you dread.

  1. Once upon a time I was able to run to work which made clocking in the exercise very easy. Now with a toddler to add to the journey, simply by stopping at a station earlier I get a 15 minute walk to work and back which helps achieve the 30 mins of some activity for the day. Small doses of exercise such as this still counts.
